Air service to Del Rio International is part of setting up factories to settle in the region.
"The availability of commercial air services means that the manager of an auto parts manufacturer can be in Del Rio/Acona in the morning and back in Detroit that evening," said Claudio Ramon, president of global development for Amistad. Amistad builds plants for many companies that operate in Acuna and Del Rio.
"Nobody wants to drive two and a half hours to the San Antonio airport," Ramon said.
