Hk P2000sk Lem - Heckler & Koch makes some of the highest quality guns in the world. From submachine guns to rifles to pistols, the company has built a solid reputation for tough and reliable firearms. I was blown away (literally) by the quality and performance displayed by the P30L in .40 S&W when I reviewed this pistol a few months ago, and the P2000 series pistols are no exception. They are more or less the same gun (at least on the inside). They even share a user manual.
I was loaned a technically used (but we don't think it's ever been photographed) P2000SK (subcompact) for review by good friend Duane. He had one in his gun shop that he let me take home for this article. Usually, if he has a used gun that's a trade-in (not a consignment), he'll let me borrow it...he's a good guy. (Not just for that... you have to get to know him!)

So I took the little guy home and put him through his paces. First let's look at the gun and then the targets - we'll finish with a bit about the company.
Heckler & Koch P2000 Sk Vs Glock G26 Size Comparison
The P2000SK is the smaller version of the P2000. This HK pistol is the son, if you will, of the HK USP. The ergonomics have been improved with the newer model. It was designed to reduce the strain during treatment and at the same time increase comfort during treatment and photography.
The P2000 is based on a Browning short-recoil, tilt-barrel, chain-free chamber action, as its USP.
* The table below shows the night vision version that comes with 3 magazines, but the used one I took had two) configurations available
Here's a screenshot from the HK website explaining all the ways you can get a P2000SK... they don't skimp on making a huge range of models.
Shot A P2000 Today
We see this gun come in several different flavors. The one I shot used L.E.M.D.A.O. Trigger – Law enforcement module, double action only. What it means? Well, in my previous P30L review I spent some time talking about the DA/SA mode this gun uses, with a decocker button on the back of the slide (the best place for the decocker, in my opinion). This gun does not have that button, making it a L.E.M.D.A.O. version.

The school L.E.M.D.A.O. The trigger, without being all techno-geek, simply describes a D.A.O. Trigger system where the hammer is partially pre-tensioned, and thus requires less pressure to activate. In the specification we see that D.A. The pull will be around 11.5 pounds with subsequent shots around 4.5 pounds. Now we know that the CZ DA/SA style triggers have a hammer pull of around 12-13 pounds and then go into SA mode when the hammer is cocked – my CZ version SAR K2P does this and it shoots well. The difference is that with the HK L.E.M.D.A.O. The trigger, the hammer stays down – it's DA all the time. The trigger pulls are easier...I missed a few shots when I got back on target, it's that easy. I will attest that the trigger on the first shot DA and follow up SA is easier.
“The P2000 SK is available with the Law Enforcement Trigger System (aka Combat Defense Action) introduced in 2001 on the USP Compact âLEMâ (Law Enforcement Modification) model. This unique early hammer system combines the advantages of a firing element (a constant level of trigger pull and a short trigger travel from the first to the last round fired) with a double hammer system. The LEM/CDA's trigger pull is reduced to 7.3 – 8.5 pounds (32.5 – 37.8 N) of pressure, compared to the 12 – 15 pounds (53.4 – 66.7 N) found in many conventional double-action pistols . . Optional adjustment by a certified HK gunsmith can bring the trigger into the 5.5 lb (24.5 N) range. Using such an improved trigger system consolidates ease of use and safety into a practical and innovative trigger action - one that prevents accidental firing. And in the event of an ammunition-related misfire, all it takes is a second or third squeeze of the trigger without first pulling the slide back to engage the Subcompact again.”
Firearm Review] Hk P2000sk
OK... we get it... the trigger pull was dropped. Yes, but it's a pretty big deal. You gunners appreciate a smoother, lighter DA pull - I know that. And if you run a 1911, you're probably used to a crisp SA pull of around 4 pounds...this gun does both, and does it well. Really impressed with the clamp...it was better than the other HK clamp I tested. But...it's meant to be. That's the whole point.
These are the main parts. Now, a word from this left-handed shooter about two of the reasons I absolutely love these HKs…
First publishes the magazine. This pistol, like most non-US, German pistols really (Walter PPS M1, I'm talking to you!), uses a paddle trigger under the trigger. It is essentially a two-sided way of referring to how the magazine can be downloaded. It doesn't matter if you are right or wrong, it works. I took out the binder without having to think about it.
Here are some pictures of the mag release P30L... it is the same as the P2000SK.
Heckler & Koch P2000sk V2 9mm Sub Compact Pistol W/ Original Box (lem Dao Trigger) ** Like New! **
As you can see, this mag release is easy to use from both sides. The other thing I like is the ambi-slide trigger…
Here it is on the right side of the gun. You can see the "gap" where the pin was pushed to remove the slide. Another thing that impresses me is the length of the handle that HK put on their slide trigger...the length gives you more leverage when you push it down, making it easier to release the slide. Great ideas, HK.
I went through a lot of ammo when testing this gun. I am not approved by Federal or any other ammo company, so what I shot was what I had on hand... Winchester âwhite boxâ factory load 115 grains and a lot of my favorite 9mm load, cast 124 grain (powder coated) round nose Lee over 4 grain Long Shot powder. I have not fired any defensive ammunition. Here are some ballistic numbers from these two loads…
It doesn't prove anything other than what the two charges did in the gun in question. I only include them because some of you are a lot like me – I want to know how a shorter barrel handles different loads. I don't need to run 40 different loads through this gun because in this day and age we have optimized ammo for short runs, which is very effective. You will be well served running your favorite defense loads through this gun and be confident in its performance. There are a bazillion you tube videos of guys (who have more time than me) testing 9mm ammo in ballistic gel/milk jugs/jeans layers/hippo skins (okay, I'm kidding)/ etc. Suffice it to say, the gun This one was accurate and reliable. Here are some of the targets I shot…
P2000 Sk V2 Lem Dao 9mm 10+1
You will see that both destinations present a decent group. Mine shot a little low, with the WWB mostly focused on the target. The left dial shows 10 rounds, while the right shows 20. I shot outside, standing, from 10 yards. Jerry Mikulek I don't, so take these measurements with a grain of salt...
When I review a gun like this—a solid performer with an excellent reputation and "street cred"—I don't worry too much about the targets I'm shooting with it. The only reason I included these targets is so you know I actually shot this gun. And shoot, I did. I put dozens of my loads through it and many factory loads. Why, if I didn't really have to? Because – it was a fun gun to shoot. simple. I like to shoot and I can shoot in my backyard to about 100 yards so it's quick and easy to do. I took advantage of shooting the gun which has an MSRP of $799. I also shot the fit and toe extension magazine. I preferred the longer one.
If you haven't shot an HK pistol, track it down - it's a quality item, Clark.
Before we wrap up, let's take a look at the company and a bit of its background... You can check out my previous article and the HK story I included in it. It is interesting reading. It describes how three former Mauser engineers in Oberndorf, Germany rose from the ashes after World War II to create what would become one of the most talented and sought-after arms manufacturers in the world. Worth a look.
